About SchoolAirQuality.uk
SchoolAirQuality.uk is an independent UK platform dedicated to indoor air quality in educational environments. Our focus is the conditions inside classrooms, halls, nurseries and shared learning spaces — and the practical decisions schools can take to improve them.

Our specialist purpose
We exist to make school indoor air quality understandable, measurable and actionable. UK schools sit at the intersection of building age, occupancy patterns and tight operational budgets, which makes generic indoor air quality guidance hard to apply in practice. Our work is built around the realities of school estates: classrooms with varying occupancy through the day, naturally ventilated rooms with seasonal performance, mechanically ventilated newer buildings, and mixed-mode spaces that need to work in both modes.
Why an education-only focus matters
Indoor air quality is a broad field, and most consultancies work across offices, healthcare, residential and industrial buildings. Schools have their own characteristics: pupils of different ages, predictable peak occupancy, defined term patterns, and decision-makers (governors, MATs, local authorities) who need clear evidence to justify spend. An education-only focus lets us tailor reporting, benchmarks and recommendations to those realities rather than retrofitting general commercial templates.
How we approach school projects
Every engagement starts with a short discovery conversation — the brief, the buildings, the concerns. We then design the right combination of short-term testing and continuous monitoring for the question being asked. Some schools need a focused classroom CO₂ and ventilation review; others need a multi-parameter assessment covering particulates, VOCs and humidity; multi-site trusts often need a programme that produces consistent reporting across an estate.
We are deliberate about reporting. School business managers, estates teams and leadership groups need findings they can act on, presented in language they can share with governors, trustees and parents. Our deliverables are written for those audiences, with technical detail clearly separated so it remains accessible to engineering and maintenance teams.
Independence and integrity
SchoolAirQuality.uk does not sell ventilation equipment, filtration products or HVAC plant. We do not earn commissions on capital works. Our recommendations are framed around what the building and its occupants need — including, where appropriate, the recommendation that no intervention is required. That position keeps our advice aligned with the schools we serve.
Where we cite standards or guidance, we name them explicitly so they can be checked and discussed. Where evidence is limited or context-dependent, we say so rather than implying certainty that does not exist.
What we deliver
Our active services include school air quality assessments, classroom ventilation reviews, CO₂ and environmental monitoring, multi-parameter indoor air quality monitoring and targeted air quality testing. We also support multi-site trusts and local authorities with portfolio-level reporting where a consistent picture across schools is needed.
